hello, i have a psp version 2.71 ... would i need to downgrade it to 1.5 or upgrade this to 3.03oe-c to play iso games..? plz help.. thank you

i would suggest u downgrade it to 1.5 and then upgrade to 3.10oe-1.u can get everything from www.psp-hacks.com and afterdawn.in this section there's a sticky thread.there u will find the 3.10 oe-a upgrader.but 1st u need to get it to 1.5 from psp-hacks.com

so i can downgrade it to 1.50 right away?... cause i had other psp and it was 1.52 and i had to upgrade it to 2.0 then downgrade to 1.50... so for the 2.71 psp.. i can just downgrade directly to 1.50?

I just bought a PSP 2.71 off of ebay (128MB Memory Stick) and I want to downgrade (to wherever I need to) and then update to the highest pirate custom firmware or whatever.
How would I do this (in the easiest error proof not tech savvy way possible please, it seems even if I follow the guides something wrong happens)?
1. I don't have a USB Cable and I think I need one? What is the best USB Cable to buy for PSP?

First off you need to downgrade to 1.5fw, have a look here

For the correct downgrader. Check your motherboard to verify if it is a TA-082 or not as the downgrader you will require is different. Once you have downgraded to 1.5fw have a look for DarkAlex's custom fw version 3.03)E-C intall it and your done.
Alternatively do a search on here for 2.71 downgrader/downdater as there is plenty info from more senior members than me.
Just saw your edit. Any cable that fits TBH but if your buying one chack ebay for usb/power cable in one.

1. Are there 1st party (sony) PSP USB cables or are they all third party?
2. Isn't the best firmware out there 3.10OE or something like that?

IMO it really doesn't matter TBH
2.
3.10 is the highest custom fw out at the moment but it can't be user customized as well as 3.03OE-C. Check the boards I think you will find most folk rate 3.03OE-C a wee bit more than 3.10

Icon,gameboot,coldboot,volume bar,font and battery changes there are more I think but thats what I have changed so far.
There really is a shed load of info on all this stuff on here M8 you should try doing a search for some stuff. try a search for "change your XMB"

Hi, Im using a 2.71 PSP and its a TA-082. Ive used HENC to emulate 1.50 to 2.71 firmware but I want higher firmware. This is what I used to emulate the firmware http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/413913 but I am now stuck. What do I do? I cant work it out at all. Please someone tell me step by simple step how to get 3.03oe-c running on my PSP.

OMG. Yes, downgrae then upgrade. I know that son. 'Please someone tell me step by simple step how to get 3.03oe-c running on my PSP.' I can see that you are no help. Anyone else? As stated I know I need to downgrade or do I? You see Ive used HENC and can emulate 1.50 - 2.71. Did downgrading with HENC flash my psp? Is it downgraded but just needs higher firmware? I have no effing idea so someone take some real time to help me one on one please. As you can tell I am lame and despite the wealth of information I still cant get it straight in my head. I dont want a bricked TA-082. And chanman1, thanks for doing your best to talk down to me. You might get the hang of it one day. :D

the reason i don't want to, and probably everyone else doesn't want to write simple step by step guides is because they have already been written, so all u really have to do is go to GOOGLE and type in "3.03 oe-c installation tutorial" or soemthing like that, so we don't have to tell someone how to do something thats already answered.

FFS! Im asking for some one to one help not a frigin guide. The guides dont seem to cover the ta-080 and I dont want to brick my psp. If you dont want to help then dont post a reply and gfy. Thanks for the link but it still didnt help me. There are things I must know. First off you must know that I have a TA-082 not a TA-080 as I had said. I am running HENC on it right now. What is the state of my psp? Is it downgraded? I would have thought yes so why do I need to downgrade again? I can use firmware up to 2.71. Using dark alex will flash my psp again right? Do I need another flash to run higher firmware? If I do need to flash it again why do I need to? Thank you.

downgraded genearlly means at 1.5, so no u are not dowgnraded
2. use the 2.71 ta-82/86 downgrader guide from the link i gave you. to downgrade ur psp to 1.5
3. yes u need to flash a higher firmware, its custom firmware so u can do everything that 1.5 and 3.03 can. use this winstaller by hexitnow

i successfully made my 2.71 to 3.03 oe-b... but i coulndt get it to oe-c.. not sure how to make the dxar file or get one...
