Just wondering I am about to buy a 360, its already flashed, and I am thinking that the halo3 release will lock it down, but does anyone have inside info?

I would say it most likely won't. If they haven't cought it yet, I doubt they will in the feature. They are trying to solve the BackUp problem by coming out with the elite.

That's like asking "will it rain next week?" Maybe they know all about the firmware hack, and can detect it already. Maybe they are still in the dark.. Who knows?
Paranoid people will believe they know all about everybody running copies online and are waiting for one day to ban them all by surprise..
I don't know, and to be honest I don't care either.. xbox-live is a service you agree to the terms and conditions of when you sign up..
Running copies is specifically mentioned in those terms (reverse engineering/copy-protection circumvention) so break them if you will, and don't complain if and/or when they get wise.
I have said this before, and I'm not trying to start any wars.. but if you agree to a legally binding contract with some party.. be it a person or a business, and then go and deliberately break the terms of that agreement (whether you think them fair or not is irrelevant.. you have already agreed to abide by them) you have no comebacks..
Your question is actually admitting you are (or are intending to be) in a situation of breach of contract with M$ and Bungie.
Afterdawn does not condone piracy, and also does not condone breach of contract type behaviour...
While I believe you have the right to make a backup of your legally bought disks, I do not believe you have any right to use those backups on xbox-live.
If they shut the firmware modded boxes out then that is up to themselves, and nobody can complain because it is in the terms and conditions for all to see.

it is far from asking "if it will rain next week" nowhere in this thread did i ask for a predictions, i asked for inside info, obviously that didnt apply to you, so stick your simile where the sun doesn't shine. and as for the question in general, if you would re-read it for me, go ahead..i'll wait....ok, done? notice I did not mention playing backup games online? did i mention piracy? no where in that thread, so call off you M$ hounds, and sit down. if someone has a firmware drive, they can still play their actual purchased discs online, and it would still run the risk of being banned, so my question was to find out if i need to have the guy reverse the hack, or if it doesnt matter. back off on your attitude, I don't play nice with windbags, so get outta my thread unless you are going answer the question, not debate whats a violation of terms and conditions.

ive got two pimphands, i will not hesitate to use the other on you...
instead of scouring the web, I choose afterdawn as my source of information first, if i search 40 sites looking for info..thats 40x1=40 results. very low, but, if however many people frequent this forum, that pay attention to info they hear or see, is multiplied, the results are greater, for arguments sake, i will sake 100 people.
40sites X 100 people=4000 possible results. now, your arguement can be said for all your little "help, my XXX is doing this" threads, scour the web, search for info, im sure you will find it..whats that? oh, you dont? oh thats because THIS FORUM IS DESIGNED FOR THE OPEN EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION! not the open exchange for your opinion of what I will or will not find by asking a question. really..now that i think of it, your post didnt have anything useful, so again, why did you post it? because somehow you think i care 2 cents about your opinion? that i value your views that I will not find inside info, or at least an inside track to a specific scenario? I am sorry, I shouldve been more clear in my orginal thread, let me add on to it then "dont post your crappy, useless opinion unless it pertains directly to my original question, on when, if, or how a ban will or will not occur.

cant you swap out drive in the elite? ...hmm...good point though, I figured they wouldve had a patch you had to download that would check to see if your disc was bypassing protection (didnt ps2 do that on socom?)

I am not sure as the Elite isn't out yet! We will just have to wait and find out. I am getting an Elite on release so I will try to find out what type of Drive is in it.

i think banning him for 2 weeks was wrong. he did nothing wrong. i think all the stupid opinionated banter that happens on these forums is really gay. he asked a question, got some stupid responses and shot those idjuts down. i never hardly post here, but read frequently. i think he is fine, im no moderator, but when these "know alls" show up and belittle people, they should be banned, not the other way around........

He had a bad attitude.
Zero tolerance against "bad attitude" in console forums
janrocks is a very respected member here at aD, and she posted a very good response to his question, and he just didn't want to hear her opinion and snapped. No where did she criticize him in anyway, all she did was give him a straight up answer.

and to add to domreis post, people that post only when they are interjecting their opinion, such as this, shouldnt be allowed when you are standing up for someone who was clearly in the wrong. if you dont agree with it, sit at home and sulk with him for 2 weeks while he doesnt use this forum.

i also agree it was wrong to ban someone for speaking their mind. in my point of view I believe janrock was the one snapping on someone for posting a question.

that was way out of line, and your right it should be closed and if he makes remarks like that again he should get a perm ban. you do as your told here and you dont argue with mods, it gets you banned, trust me i know from experience...

I agree that this guy was out of line and rude and deserved some action. But I will admit that some members and senior members do have a bit of attitude with newbs coming on here. I do agreee with the point that why post if you have nothing to offer the poster? Can't we all be a bit more friendly in our bashing of newbs?
