not freezing because of the game, the 360 freezes, and it worked last night, but i woke up this morning and the three red lights were on and no audio or anything, do you think they are related?

you don't need a heat gun quit as good as the one in the vids.
i start with a hair dryer for a bout 2 mins first(so as not heat the board 2 fast)then use a standard 600w heatgun for a few mins on both sides of the board then back to the hair dryer for a few mins (to stop the board cooling down to fast)
it really ain't all that hard to do m8 so you should be fine

sorry m8.
never sent one back
i'm in scotland and would have to send it to the u.s (no official repair center here yet) and it would take weeks plus my case is modded and didn't want them sending a normal replacment.
good luck with it dude

i'm afraid it is temperary m8. but IF done right it can last for months at a time. i have done half a dozen with this method and all are still going ok.
all the best

Hey baz, I appreciate the response. One last question, if I do the heat gun then do some work with the fans, and keep the xbox on a stand can I expect to completly solve this problem. Im guessing the system gets hot then the soldering falls apart again...
if i kept it cool after I used the heat gun can I expect to have a perfect xbox :)!?

Anyone know where I can get a replacement fan? or is it something wrong with my motherboard, because my fan turns on but shuts off after a couple seconds.

to be honest mate i don't think that is a whole lot you can do to stop it permanently other than to have the chips re-solderd but by keeping it as cool as you can will certanly help the situation BUT be carefull about what you buy. check out this thread if you haven't already seen it
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/455546
if you can afford it i would recomend water cooling it.
but i personally think that the heatsinks fitted in the 360 have a lot to do with it as they are not very good at all. when the fan is as far away from the heatsink as it is in the 360 and taking into account the heat being created by the cpu & gpu i really think they should have used a heatsink with a mirror finish base to maximise contact as the conductive paste they used is garbage as well.so having said that i beleive your best bet of getting your box to last is long as possible is make sure you get the best possible contact between heatsink and chips so as to draw the heat away from the solder as much (and fast) as possible.
hope this helps dude.
