Hello, my PS2 has a modchip, it can run burnt games on CD, but not on DVD. It can run original DVD games though. I tried both DVD+R and DVD-R. Can anyone please help?
Thanks.

no oine can help you with what little information you gave.
1. what brand and speed DVD did you use (like Sony 8X DVD-R)
2. what did you program did you burn them with and at what speed
3. what kind of modchip, because some have different modes you have to put the chip in for PS1 (CD) and PS2 (DVD) games
4. have you tried updating your burners firmware to help with media compatibility and burn quality

Oh, sorry.
1. I'm not sure, my dad burned some like a year ago, I think it was a NEC DVD-RW and the speed should be 3.5X, I have the same one now.
2. I burned them with Alcohol 120% on 3.5X or Nero..
3. Hmm, I really don't know.. How can I?
4. No, but I'll do it now.
Are Platinum 8X speed DVD-R dvd's good? Should I try burning another game and try it, I think I also have some Verbatim DVD's laying around.
Oh, and I also burned a game on DVD at my uncle, he has a PS2 too, it worked well on his PS2, but it didnt work on mine..

LOL, nice. Time for the truth.
Sony = outsourced media to many companies = you never know what your getting. I have used them with success but would not trust them for as far as i could skip them across the pond.
Verbatim is a much better choice. IF you have a modchip, and do not know which one then there is no way i can tell you if it requires special boot modes for DVD's
When you burn them, are you saying your burners MAX speed is 3.5X, if so you could be in trouble, especially with 16X discs.
Try this. update the firmware on the burner if there is one. Use the verbatim, burn the ISO with IMGburn V2.1, burn the ISO on an 8X or 16X DVD at 4X speed (set this in DVD Decrypter).
Now watch the little log window, it will tell you that you set it at 4X and then tell you the actual write speed that your burner is using.
If the game works on your uncles and not yours then it is not the burner or the burning process, it may be that your laser is dirty and needs cleaning, or even the laser needs adjusting. Or that the modchip you have is different from his, and yours has a DVD mode that must be changed.

Ok, thanks, I have to open the PS2 to clean the laser right, and how can I change it to DVD mode, if its possible.

Oh yes, it says Accucore on the DVD.
But it seems like to change the mode to DVD you just start the PS2 the normal way, it isnt working :'(
