1. Is there anywhere in the US I can walk in an buy first or second class DVD-Rs? I have been using Verbatim but I'm not sure the Media ID

2. Does Swap Magic void warranty on slims? Since they're removable how could they tell?

3. Using first or second class DVD-Rs how long should a brand new silver slim last when playing backups and imports occasionally?

Thanks for the help

keep buying verbatims because all verbatims are mcc coded and thats awesome.if you're looking price wise:i can recommend maxell made in japan or sony made in japan.the best are sony DVD+R 8x because they are always taiyo yuden coded.depending on your version u can put a slim flip top on it or magic keys.a free method is tape and tissue mod but requires warranty void.the ps2 will last as long as you dont put psone games, dvd movies, and music cds in it.hope that helped.PEACE

1. As above, stick with Verbatim. They may cost a little more then something like Memorex but are well worth it. Or just start buying them online at places like Supermediastore.com and saving big money.

2. It will void the warranty on certain model as you need to use Swap Magic and Magic Keys II. Some can be installed without opening it, and other can not. Their website can tell you which versions.

3. for quite a long time really. Good media can make all the difference. If you have a burner that can booktype media you may even want to try some DVD+R and booktype them to DVD-Rom. That will be about as compatible as a disc could every be for your system.

thanks for your help i'll keep using Verbatim and won't play PS1 games,DVD movies(played one on it total), or music CDs. Also new question, Does the burner matter and whats the best one if it does? (i've been using my bro's laptop but it died awhile ago so i don't have a burner right now)

burners dont really matter, but you should have brand name:LG,Benq,Sony, etc. and if the burner can booktype than thats a huge plus.....

BenQ is a nice burner. Sony i did not like much, did a great job but broke down after 2 years. NEC and Pioneer also make some good burners. I know my BenQ DW1655 can booktype and does really well with games, but they are hard to fine. The BenQ 1670 does all the same stuff as mine but doesn't have the lightscribe like mine, although i never even use Lightscribe personally.
