I just bought a PSP and looking in the system information it says:

'System Software Version 3.03'

Is there any way to figure out which version it is? Does Sony have an official 3.03 version?

hmm i know what u mean :)

I'm trying to find out if the 3.03 is a official sony release or if it is a firmware hack like 3.03 OE-A, OE-B or OE-C.

Is there anyway one can find out which version it is?

then it is the offical firmware....

but just to be sure when you boot up hold the r trigger on the psp if a strange coloured screen comes up with options then you have custom if not then it is offical and you will have to downgrade.

ok, i have tested and apparentely i have the offical 3.03 version.

I have search the forum, but didn't find a clear answer about the down grade for the official 3.03 version... does anyone what I should do?

to downgrade from 3.03 to 1.5 you will need the original umd of gta lcs,the unpatched version of Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories.
The unpatched version of the game that contains the 2.0 update

the 3.03 downgrader patches all ta mobos, mobo is irrelivent w/303 downgrader....
