Xbox 360 modchip?

Me and a couple of my friends have been interested in hacking xbox for awhile. We softmodded our old xbox and it was pretty fun to play with. I have been interested in modding my xbox 360, I was wondering if a modchip is worth getting for a 360 or if I should just flash it and use SATA cable somehow, or are there any softmods for it. I am sorry if this is a duplicate but I just want some ideas.

the best thing to do is to flash your dvd drive. if you dont know how to do that there are many tutorials on this forum. the only mods that you can do with the dvd flash is play backup games. same with the modchip. so if you are looking for homebrew you wont have any luck.

I am probably going to use Xecuter Blaster to flash my drive and then install an alternate firmware will this allow me to play backup games and dvd's?
