jap ps2 game on usa ps3?

simple question. i have a couple japanese ps2 games(dvd) that i play regularly and i'm planning on picking up a ps3 this weekend. will those games load on my ps3 or do i need to keep my ps2 until a solution comes up? been searching for the answer to this but all i can find are 6000 topics on uk ps3 not being able to play jap ps2 games

isn't usa and jap the same region code anyway or am i totaly off with that? anyway i know that the old ps2 swap magic works with ps3 but you have to open your ps3 up to be able to remove/replace the discs so if you dont care about your warrenty that might be the route for you or just stick with your ps2 for the ps2 games

yea i was using swap magic on my ps2 but i have no intentions of screwing up my ps3 so soon. i'm sure there is someone out there with an answer to this question
