how can u find out which firmware ur running f someone else flashed it.a couple of days back i gave my 360 to a pro so that he can reflash my sammy to 5.2a now he said that he has flashed the drive to 5.2a but the drive is very quite seems he hasnt done any thing or mayb 5.2b,

5.2a with Verbatim media sounds like an original to me. I don't even know why anyone would want b or d on their MS25/28 because if they're going to be cheap with the media, feel free to burn the laser out faster. Then that little money you saved will be spent on a new laser, ect... Just use 5.2a with Verbatim.
It doesn't sound louder than an original over here.

Edit - But to answer the thread title.
You need to get your firmware dumped off the drive with the mtkflash r /m hacked.bin

Then open the hacked.bin in FWToolbox and it'll tell you which version it is.
