Cingular will have to give you the code for the RM-225 model.

NoLimit04,
Thanks for your reply.
I followed this thread where you helped "meap":
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/489448
and based on your reco., I bought this phone. Now, reading again, I realize you mentioned not to buy RM-225. When I bought 6030 phone from Cingular Go phone site, I did not realize this is a RM-225 phone. How can I make sure of this?
Also, do you think Cingular will help me to unlock the phone?
Thanks for your help!

If you bought the phone from the same place I sent him, it shouldn't be RM-225 but you can press *#06# and it will show on the screen if it is or not. If it is, hurry and send it back for a refund because Cingular will not provide the code for it anytime soon.

NoLimit04,
Thanks for your reply.
I went through the link:
http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-servi...sp?zipPass=true
you have given me and it is RM-225. I will return this one but was wondering how I can get another one which is NOT Nokia phone RM-225.
This time, I plan to go to a Cingular store. Can you please let me know?
thanks,

Just to clarify my last email, I am interested in a Nokia phone (since they have very good reception) but I want one which I can unlock. Please advise me which one I can get from Cingular?

Did you buy the new one or refurbished Go Phone? The refurbished is what you should have bought and I would have thought it would not be the RM-225 model.

I guess they must be mixing them up now and I hate that it happened to you but it's good to know that they're doing that. As for finding out if it's RM-225, just tell them you don't want the RM-225 model and if they act stupid and say they don't know if they are or not, tell them to put the battery in the phone and press *#0000# and it will tell all on the screen. You're looking for RM-75 or RM-76 and those can be unlocked.

I think you can send the one you have back to them and be refunded and then just go to the store yourself and tell them what you want.
*#0000# will tell what it is on the screen. Press that on the one you have now and you'll see what I'm talking about.
