and never had a problem before with either one but for some reason now most of my writes fail. i tried once with xbc and it went well. which do you guys use that works the best?

i have used nothing but IMGburn V2.1 (an older version)
I use only Verbatim 2.4X to 6X discs
Always burn at 4X and no coasters so far ( i also use the ISO file rather than the DVD file)

remember to manually set the layer break in IMGburn the first time.
tools-->settings-->write-->layer break. Check user specified and set it to 1913760. Click ok and burn as normal. This is only necessary the first time burning a 360 game

ohhh you use the iso file? i always use the dvd file instead could that be the prob?

Well with IMGBurn i think it will be better to burn the actual ISO file rather than the DVD...

i doubt it is the main problem but it surely would not hurt to try. The DVD file just tells the burner what file it is, the file name, and the layer break. All of which you are already doing manually when loading the ISO into IMGburn
