Hi I'm going mental over this. I was recording tv onto dvd-ram discs on my Panasonic DMR-E50 then using my LG GSA 4163B to copy the VOB file onto my hard drive for editing and eventual burning onto DVD-R. This was all going great until recently when my PC stopped recognising the ram discs. I've tried new discs, panasonic & memorex. I've checked firmware is up-to-date. I've uninstalled the drive and reinstalled it. I've corrected my settings from PIO back to DMA.

It's not just recorded discs either. The drive won't recognise blank ram discs either. It does, however have no problem reading and burning -r's.

Any ideas??
Thanks

Are these all the same RAM disks or have you opened a new pack recently?

The memorex and the last two panasonics were brand new.

Try updating your drives firmware (should have A106)
You can get the newest version here Firmware for GSA 4163B

If these are new disk your drive probably just needs updated to be able to read them.

I have the latest version of the firmware and the panasonic discs are the same make as the ones that used to work. I even have an autoupdate linked to the LG support site. I'm thinking ponyboy could have the answer. It was working great, and I have been installing updates fairly regularly. The question is if I rollback to a clean XP won't it be flawed like it was before the updates? And even if that's not the case I won't be able to install any critical updates in the future will I?

Ok new question. Can you uninstall specific updates? Could I find a list of updates that have been installed and remove them one by one to find which one has caused the problem?

Nevermind I have got it sorted. I deleted Hotfix: KB922582. Now it all works again. Thanks to everyone who helped in this thread and the others that I have been reading.

Here is my suggestion.

Start a new thread.
You will only get responses from people who posted to this thread more than likely if you don't.

Next provide as much detail as you can about your set up.

Have you had a DVD drive before?
If so, did it work?
What changed?
What player (software) do you use for viewing your movies?

What software are you using to burn?

You need to provide as much info as possible and someone will help you out.

Good luck.
