Did it come directly from Nokia or does it have any logos on the front panel or inside. I have one directly from them and nothing is on it and it like mine should be unlocked already.

no logos just says nokia I bought it from Pana System Canoga Park, Cal.
When I put my sim in it is says restricted

the sim is from the phone I use and I want to replace it with the nokia 6103 I bought
the imei number from my old phone is 010913000295719

when i put it in is says restricted and undo if I hit undo it ask for a restriction code

The 6103 is branded to someone or your sim wouldn't be showing "phone restricted" and that's what we need to find out. The other IMEI# I don't need to know because we're not trying to unlock that one. What network provider are you trying to use in the 6103?

That explains why it's not working. What you have is a RUIM card and not an actual GSM sim card. The 6103 will not work with a Tracfone, Boost, Nextel card. It has to be a GSM sim card such as T-Mobile, Cingular, AT&T.

That is great was told it would.
The V176 tracfone is the worst receiving phone I ever owned my dad bought a cheap nokia tracfone tha out preforms the v176 hands down
I called the placewere I bought it and they told me it would work when it was unlocked Humm

What can I do to get a phone that is better for a tracfone?

or should I give upa dn go witha prepaid from another?

If it were me, I would go to ebay and purchase a prepaid sim from there for Cingular or T-Mobile. Cingular has free mobile to mobile if you're talking to someone that has Cingular also and it's 10 cents per minute and T-Mobile is about 30 cent per minute.

Also, Cingular will not let you change the area code unless you buy the sim directly from the store but T-Mobile will let you change the area code to your area. Cingular sims bought off ebay will already have a number assigned to them so if someone calls you from a land line, it would be long distance for them.

OK I bought a cingular card and put it in the phone after it was activated and had time now the phone sometimes shows it has a cingular under operator selection but never hooks up to them after i select manual and it see's cingular but then will not registar

any ideas on this?
