After loading a certain game it is asking for a software update. What exactly does this do, and what does it change the firmware of? Is there any danger attached to it? I really want to play this game but am hesitant to do so because I've never had this message with any other games I have. I'd appreciate any help. Thanks.

These are the numbers in systems settings:

D:2.0.2868.0
K:2.0.2868.0
BK:2.0.1888.0

BTW I'm on Extreme 5.2b

They are just game updates - Nothing to worry about so far.
I had one for Perfect Dark Zero; released on May 3, 2006. An auto-update made available via Xbox Live, responsible for fixing some bugs in the game. This included code to prevent an ongoing problem where players could walk through the air and also to prevent an issue where the plasma/rocket weapons could make use of rapid fire. The update also included eight new bot types.
