you must open the console and see what the drive model is ... for the exact firmware :)

i am pretty sure there is a website call 360drives.com or .net or something along those lines. you can check on there and there is most likely one the same as yours that will show you what the firmware is. but all hitachis are pretty easy if you have the right equipment. the only thing diff in hitachis is the 78k drive. other than that they all flash the same way.

Hitachi 0078FK drives are the easiest to flash much like the Samsung MS25. The only way to know what firmware you have is to open up your console and look at the label on the DVD-ROM drive.
