if i connect an external hdd to my slimline will it be recognized or would i have to do something to it like add files, etc.

For a While i have escaped time but to return when they need you most to come back on a vendetta like a have thats just simply MAGIC!

you need a disc called USB Extreme. Look into that first. Game compatibility is not great with USB hard drives though, Like 75% of them should work though.

no not to play burnt games just that i have an old ps2 hdd and im waiting for my external hdd case to come so i could put the ps2 in it just for saves so would it work that by itself without any program or cd

not that i have ever seen. The PS2 doesn't have an option to save to a hard drive. Just a memory card.

i know that im mean when your in the ps2 browser to transfer saves to your mem card via hdd

It should get recognized if you use, for example, PS2Link... Or any other Loader.
If you've already ordered a Ext usb case you have nothing to loose when you try it :) (Except if it crashes and everything goes poof... nah, I don't think that will happen :P)
