ok my friend downloaded the GoW maps from xbl and his hdd is crapping out on him. he wants to know if he can transfer the maps from his old hdd to a new hdd. and are the maps "locked" to the xbox360 with some kind of keys?

yeah but you need to use the save transfer kit.
