Shrinking Dual Layered DVD's? please read/help

alright, DVD Shrink isnt doing the job for multiple movies, rip it for me works but I cant compress the iso to fit on a regular dvd, sure, i have a dual layered burner but its 15$ for 3 blank dldvd's
so is there a more updated way of shrinking newer movies like black christmas, smoking aces, casino royale and saw 3?

When you use Ripit4me, don't use iso mode. Use "full DVD" instead and run those files through Shrink. Shrink should be able to handle the decrypted files without a problem. I could be wrong, but I think when you rip in iso mode, you leave the encryption intact, which kinda defeats the purpose of using Ripit4me when you want to later transcode the DVD. The only time I ever use iso mode is when I want to burn directly onto a DL DVD. Also make sure you run the built in cleanup process when using ripit4me.
edit: There are many newer programs that can transcode DVDs, like DVDFab Platinum, Intervideo DVDCopy 5, or Nero Recode 2 (same programmer as Shrink) but most are going to require that you decrypt the files first (with the exception of DVDFab, but this program may still need help on occasion). Also, most are not free, honestly, you are not going to find a better transcoder for free, it even still puts many premium transcoders to shame as far as quality. My suggestion, give the "Full DVD" method a shot first before you move on to something else, it should work fine with Shrink.
edit #2: Sorry for so many edits...lol, but if you have Nero 6 or 7, you should give Nero Recode 2 a try. You still have to first decrypt the files prior to use, but it is essentially the same program as Shrink (being that it is from the same programmer), quality is just as good, some say slightly better, and it is quicker than Shrink. Just something to consider if you already have a Nero package.

GUIDE 1 = DVDFab+VoBB or FIXvts+shrink+IMGburn
GUIDE 2 = DVDFab+FixVTS+shrink+IMGburn

I tried ripping the .vob files and shit but dvdshrink still wont read it.

I don't see why DVD Shrink can't rip movies but you still need to have AnyDVD at the same time. DVD Shrink only do the ripping. The decrypting is done by AnyDVD. I even use Nero 6 to copy a DVD9 movie to a DL together with AnyDVD but with DVD Shrink, I can edit away the FBI warnings & the trailers.

sorry for the double post, don't know how to edit message, it can read it, just not write it to a different .iso image even after ripping all of the .vob and .sub

did you follow either of the guides i posted, it is very important to use either FixVTS or VobBlanker before using shrink

to make sure dvdFab hasn't left anything behind plus it fixes the structure of the files.

Alright people, change your religious beliefs, DVDFab Platinum rocks, does it rock so much it deserves money? yes, my money? no.
so buy it if you want or you could be like the rest of us unwilling to pay for software
seriously though, good program, can even put video files on psp and ipod
shrink dual layered dvd's to single
can also split it into 2 dvd's for 100% quality
customize
clone - works for ps2 games
merge and write

DVD Shrink never has had the best decryption software for bypassing copy protections. With some of the newer releases a heavier copy protection was added. It's so bad that it even effects some players, which is supposed to be taboo. So a decryption program that can clean up the new protections is called for. Bogus files that make the files appear noncompliant is part of the copy protection scheme, so the software has to address that as well. You mentioned RipIt4Me. For the sake of the uninitiated, they should have left the ISO rip mode out. The files are locked in ISO and can't be processed for compliance. With Full DVD, Movie + Menu, and Movie only (file modes) the files are accessible and can be cleaned up. With one of the file modes selected and the 1-Click mode used in RI4M the cleaned files are opened in DVD Shink for transcoding. When done right, this has proven to be a sure fire setup.
With DVDFab the additional use of FixVTS and/or another of the processing tools is needed. I've used AnyDVD + DVD Decrypter with similar results. There's a number of combinations, but it all depends on getting a good rip and having the files DVD compliant when the decryption process is complete. Once done the source files should work with any of the backup programs.
I own DVDFab Platinum. It's a good program with plenty of bells and whistles. The only fault I've found with it in the past is that the software was a little slow in being updated for newer copy protections. Not a real problem and they usually get it done within a week or so. It's good, but not my favorite program.
