CdRomPeripheral : DVD RW DVR-MCC atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : DVD ROM DX-DVDR100 atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: Off

Appears that your burner and DVD ROM have reverted to PIO mode. You will need to re-enable DMA on both.

Check in Device Manager to see if DMA or PIO is on. For IDE setups the Secondary channel usually has the optical drives and the hard drives are on the Primary. Double click the channel and look in Advanced Settings or right click the desired channel and select Properies and look under the Advanced Settings tab. Note current transfer mode. Transfer Mode: is the setting that's desired, not necessarily what the drive is in, that's the Current Transfer Mode. DMA doesn't apply to SATA.

#I is the Control Panel. Follow I, II, III. Hard drives on Primary Channel and optical drives on Secondary Channel. Uninstall and reboot to kick drives back into DMA on. After Reboot check to make sure DMA is on. If problems persist, check IDE cables, drives and mobo.

Hello,

File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=8.0.0.212 , size=2560 bytes, created 5/19/2006 2:16:24 PM

This is a roxio driver, which is known to conflict with Nero
use this tool to get rid
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninstallers/Roxio-Zap.shtml

i am not sure what Internal target failure
means, what for other AD members thoughts on that

I suspect the target error is the drive. Along with the driver you pointed out is this error:
Status: 0x04 (0x01, SCSI_ERR)
HA-Status 0x00 (0x00, OK)
TA-Status 0x02 (0x01, SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
Sense Key: 0x04 (KEY_HARDWARE_ERROR)

This is a drive error. The best thing to do is to clear the Roxio driver and see if that frees the drive to work properly.

Before I say check the hardware and possibly replace the drive, I'll suggest using some different media. Sony +R (not -R), Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Ricoh, or one of the name brands with made in Japan on the label are usually some of the good stuff. If the good media doesn't work, try using ImgBurn or another burner program. That helps determine if it's software or hardware. Then, if none of the previous options help, you need to check the cable, connections, and the drive.
