how to connect DVD on DVR

Hi, this is a VIP622-DVR (dish network) directly hooked to aTV1 plasma HDTV and remotely connected to TV2.
I connected a DVD and VCR to the back of the TV2, the problem is that both pictures are coming "BLACK AND WHITE"?
Is it any different way to connect them to get the color picture??
