I'm new to the DLing thing but im finding one thing to be very bothersome. i noticed when i tried to search for Tekken 5 and soul calibur 3 they came up everywhere. so i proceed to retrieve the etorrent and start the download. to my surprise it will take...

SEVEN DAYS TO DOWNLOAD!!

tekken says three days. Now please tell me if i'm doing something wrong but this seems to be like a LONG download not to mention leaving the PC on for that long o finish up a file.

my system specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon 4200+ dual core
2 GB RAM
7800 GTX graphics card ((doubt that matters))

ISP is verizon FioS. is there a special program i can download or some better client besides Bittorent. I would love to download but 3-7 day downloads between 10-20 kb/s is a bit too frustrating for my tastes. any help is greatly appreciated. thx

you techies are awesome

Well, if your internet connection is slow ( Downloading speed, MBps ), you can't download fast.

It doesn't matter how strong PC you got.

I have no experience with etorrent, but the three most popular clients are Azureus, ”Torrent and BitComet. If you?re new to BitTorrent I would recommend ”Torrent, It?s light and has a great settings wizard to help you on your way.

Make sure you set an exception for incoming and outgoing connections for ”Torrent in your firewall's configuration and forward your ports if you are using a router. If you need any more help configuring machine/network I suggest reading the FAQ/Guides at http://utorrent.com/guides.php

Slow speeds can be usually attributed to a low seeder-to-leecher ratio. A leecher is someone who is downloading (and uploading) a file. You are a leecher if you do not have a complete copy of the file you?re trying to get. On the other hand seeder is someone who has a complete version of the file you are downloading. If there are no seeders, you probably wont be able to get the file. So seeders are extremely important, make sure to ?seed? the torrent once you finished downloading. Thus, if there is a large amount seeders and very little leechers, you can expect fast download speeds and vice versa. You can think of it in terms of supply and demand.

People tend to hit-n-run on public trackers (which results in poor seeder-to-leecher ratios), therefore your best bet is to get an invite to private tracker such as TorrentLeech.org or BlackCats-Games.net. Keep in mind at these sites you are required to maintain a share ratio, ie. you are generally expected to upload what you have downloaded.

Public trackers are really bad in terms of speed. Even when the torrent is pretty new and has alot of seeders you can get pretty slow seeds, so i aint to suprised that you're getting such bad speeds on an old torrent. The best thing to do would be to sign up to a private tracker. Blackcats-games.net is good. You do have to seed quite a bit but for some of the speeds you get its worth it.
