is there a way to re-author a DVD with DVD Shrink but still keep the menu functionality. i would like to be able to choose scenes and stuff like that but i dont want all the extra crap like adds at the beginning of the dvd or any of the special features, all i want is the menu and the movie itself.
is there a way i can do that?

You can do that with PgcEdit or VobBlanker.
