Hiya, I just installed DaemonTools because a friend told me it can bypass the "original CD is required" barrier. I downloaded a game, and it came in the ISO format, so after I unpack it and install the game and run it, it says "please insert original CD" or something like that. I'm very new to DaemonTools and the whole mounting process, so can someone please give me a short step-by-step guide on how to run the game with the help of DaemonTools? Thanks a lot =^^=

I think going to the people that wrote the software may be a good start when in need of help :)

The problem is I have no idea where to even start. The Daemon site FAQ is all in those technical terms so I have no idea what to do. What I have is an ISO file containing all the game files such as setup inside, and Daemon installed. Do I need to "mount" (don't know what that means) an "image (don't know what that means either)? Or do I make a "virtual drive" (again don't know what that means either)? So it would be very helpful if someone could just give me a step-by-step guide on how to get the game to work. Thanks.

There are guides on mounting images and virtual drives all over the forum you just have to search. As for the link i gave you it told you everything you needed to know. even how to get a disk to work without the CD its all about the protection and you have to do your own research in to how to find out what protection it uses. Have a look round the forum all the information is there you just have to look then if you really can't do it ask me and i will explain it :)

I read through the guide on the DaemonTools forum and still have no clue... They keep emphasizing this 1:1 copy thing but I have no idea what it's talking about. I searched through the contents of the game folder and couldn't find a matching protection, so I enabled all of the emulations from the icon on the taskbar. The game is House of the Dead 3. Can you show me how to make the 1:1 copy thing? I downloaded Alcohol 120%. And what do I do after I make the 1:1 copy?

You need to mount it on a virtual drive just select mount image and find the iso i cannot tell you the way i got round it because it is against forum rules

This scanner will tell you what protection you have to bypass then you have to search for a way round that yourself:

You need to help yourself before we can help you :)

Really tho, if you are literate, the documentation on the site tells you everything you need to know... but since I am in a good mood I will spoon feed you :D

A CD/DVD image is an exact digital replica of a CD/DVD, whereby all of the data is stored in one file to completely preserve the data structure and integrity of the CD/DVD. An image file typically has an .ISO file extension.

You can think of mounting an image file on a virtual drive (with Daemon Tools or Alcohol 120%) as an alternative to burning it to a physical medium.

The emulation is done by creating a virtual drive on the system, that to the operating system looks like an ordinary disk drive. With that virtual drive, you can read a disk image that is located on the hard drive, rather than from the disc drive. In short, it allows a CD/DVD to be accessible when the disc isn't in the computer. Normally you would burn an image file to a disc. When you mount an disk image file to a virtual drive, it behaves exactly as if you physically inserted a CD/DVD into your disk drive, but instead the CD/DVD (image) on your hard drive is loaded.

Some of the advantages to this are it helps prevent scratching to discs, enables users to avoid constantly switching out discs, speeds up access times as hard drives are faster than optical drives, and allows one to carry large disc libraries without the physical burden of the discs.

To load your image, first we need to create a virtual drive, then mount it.

Right click the Daemon Tools icon in your system tray
Virtual CD/DVD-ROM->Set Number of Devices->1 Drive
Virtual CD/DVD-ROM->Device 0:->Mount Image-> Browse to your ISO file

Hope that helps.

If you have downloaded a game and after you install it it asks for you to put in the original disk, then that means that you need to put in a crack for that game or else it wont work.
