... like Sony did with the PS2 laser? How would you rate the DVD Drives of the systems you've owned? My PS2's second laser is barely hanging on, luckily I don't play it much these days.

i have never had problems with the lasser in my drive. i think that they are a good quality

obviously M$ cheaps out everywhere. i here everyone crying about dead dvd drives even though they didn't drive it.

nah its better than ps2 but its like still not the best. if u use bad media it will dies easy.

I have to disagree with that. I have an original launch day PS2 that will read Princo DVD-R's burned @ 8x and Prodiscs @ 16x. It's all about the hardware and setup you have on your PC as well as maintaining your equipment (clean, no dust, clear ventilation etc). And the MS drive is pretty bad since only a few choice discs actually work good.

TDK took an uppercut to my first laser, I learned by lesson, they suck. My PS2 refuses to play anything other than FujiFilm -R nowadays. If I consistently use Verbatim +R DLs burned at 2.4x with a Pioneer 112D with a Samsung Drive, would you say that's as good as it gets on the lazer? The PS2 lasers differed in their 'best' media. I seem to see everyone agreeing Verbatim is the best for the 360.
