Look I am not much of a expert on how to hack systems to play backups (actually, not at all); but I think you can probably avoid a modchip if someone was smart enough.
1) USB Cables- There must be a way to hack or alter the system through those.
2) SD Card- I know this has probably been explored, but couldn't you make something that could crack the protection and diguise it as an mp3 and run it in Excite Truck?
3) Disk exchange method- perhaps if you did some sort of a exchange like with gamecube PAL and NTSC games with backups, maybe while the system is turning on or off, you can bypass security?
your thoughts?

Of course there has to be a way.
Freeloader still makes your game have to be original it just lets you play NTSC games on a PAL console.
what the guy is talking about is a softmod like Swap Magic for Ps2 which lets you boot backups.
But right now this is really poor like you said so many things i mean everyoone is relasing these modchips while all do teh same thing why dosent someone come up with a custom firmware which lets you use YSB mass storage at least.
Its all going so slow and to say the truth these Wii forum section has been filled with garbage since the 1st modchip came out.
All i see is how to instal this mod,why dosent it work.
for crying out loud there is a stickied thread which you use so we dont get this boring repetitve stuff always.
this is the only thread with a point i the wii section in the last week.

do you have a link?
I would want to run backups, I don't see what freeloader would do except allow you to play outside reigon games.
do you have a link to that sd/usb thing?

I wonder why there aren't any softmods for the Wii... perhaps it's a conspiracy to keep the modchip prices inflated!?

This is about the only thing I've found, as far as softmodding the wii is concerned.
http://forums.qj.net/f-wii-capabilities-...ped-105832.html
Apparently someone dumped the "nand flash" which could help some people search for a hole in security, and allow full homebrew to be ran on the Wii. But, it doesn't look like that will be happening anytime soon...

Well There is really still nothing which lest us play Wii Backups through a softmod.
But Ive been thinking do you think it would be possible for someone to create a special hacked firmware for the wii which you could install and the firmware having the disc check disabled.
What do you think?
To me it seems possible just some good software designers need to try and see.
