Hi,

I am a newby helping out a mate.

His dbox arrived a couple of weeks ago and I connected it for him. Channel scan, no problems, sorted!

Last week, on switch on the box went to "Classic FM" radio channel, waited for 10 secs and then rebooted. Now this is all it does.

I have tried connecting to a laptop with crossover CAT5 cable but the connection lights stop when it starts to reboot. So I can not now reflash as FTP, etc cannot see the ip address.

Suggestions as to
a) solutions
b) reasons for failure
gratefully received.

Further detail on the problem:

I can get IFA/DbootManager to talk to the box via null-modem cable link but only get as far as the IFA logo on the front of the dbox. After that the process stops. I think this is because DBootManager fails when its pings the IP address of the dbox - which it automatically (??) sets to 198.162.0.202.

Is this last one the default IP address of the dbox? Is there any way I can get the IP address to use? Help!!

Occasionally I can get the logo boot screen to show the following details

BMon V1.0
feID 7a stxID 0b
fpID 5a dsID 01-
a1.0c.46.00.00-e4
HWrev X5 SWrev 0.8/
B/EX/F1 (MB) 32/00/08
Sportster 1.1.2

All assistance gratefully received....

Hi,

Thanks but I went out and bought a crossover CAT5 cable and when I look at the ends the coloured wires do not match orders (i.e they are crossed). Any other suggestions?

Guys,

Thanks for the support - I went back basics and bought a new null-modem serial cable as well. It turns out that the DB9-DB9 cable I was using was NOT crossed and this along with IFA has resolved the problem.

A case of RTFM perhaps!

Best regards,
