i updated my firmware 3.40 wrongly in a UMD. i cant recover my firmware please help

my brother says it was a game UMD and to play it says you should update ur version. and he applied..
my plan is to downgrade to 1.5 to play games from MS
but now i cant..
how can i recover firmware, it is now 3.40 :S

You can't, unless you have custom firmware to begin with.

Thats your best bet, wait and hope (pray) for a downgrader. Unfortunatley no-one knows how long it will take, or even if one can ever be made for 3.10 and above.

Personally i would take it to a games store and swap it for another, or sell it and buy a lower firmware one.

Agreed.

Short of knowing someone who works in a Game store who will swap it for you, or trading it in for another lower firmware version (which would put you out of pocket) you are stuck. :(

Could be a long wait for a 3.4 downgrader so may well be worth while considering trading it in and buying another.

What game was it?
I think they just do it so you upgrade. My friend bought a PSP the other day and got Killzone, Yu Gi Ho (sp?) and 300 with it, Yugi wanted him to upgrade to 2.82 and 300 wanted him to upgrade to 3.03. Both were fine for me to downgrade it for him but as he wasnt sure he upgraded to 2.82 through Yugi so he could play that in the mean time but 300 then worked on 2.82 when previously didn't on 2.60 and was demanding 3.03
