Apologies moggser for jumping in, when the OP said he was using a gender changer well it indicates that it is as you suspect a standard RS232 straight through cable. As all null modem cables are DB9F to DB9F.

Sorry folks but thats the way most null modem cables come with the exception of DB25 to DB9, moggser when you say you have a convertor are you talking about the USB convertor or a gender changer?
Apologies Eva missed your post the leads at Dabs are F to F http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?quic...11018&InMerch=1 Male to male are usually straight through RS232 cables.

@alcapone,Yes but you need to use a null modem cable in conjunction with the USB adapter. Looks like you are just using the adapter and gender changer, is this the case?

Your fine Moggser so you have a 9 way null modem cable female at both ends and a standard USB adapter as should be the case.

You are always welcome Sc0user
Ya just got in before me as I was going to say exactly what you were saying.
L71BT in Maplins Null Modem lead is female to female, and is whats needed to transfer the files from your PC to the Box.

Use in conjunction with USB converter.
