Didn't know if this was the correct forum to post in. If not, my apologies.

Just purchased the new Xbox 360 Elite and the HD DVD player add on. I've got a Sony STR-DG710 with HDMI input and output. If I connect my new 360 Elite via HDMI to this receiver, do I need to still connect the optical output from the 360 into the receiver to listen to 5.1 surround sound? Or, will the HDMI output take care of that, therefore not having to run the extra cable from the 360?
