I am sorry, I HAVE been to the readme section but the plethora of acronyms and software options is boggling.
I basically need to do two things

1) Put DVD+R,+rw recordings from TV and camcorder(tape) onto hard drive for editing and storage. I do not have a video in interface, bog stan on board graphs.
2) Convert (inadvertant) dvd -r recordings to DVD+R so we can play them on wifes' machine(I am in a lot of trouble here!).

I am fairly pc cute and if I know just which bits of software to grab (even tho' they beat about the bush as to what they do)I am sure I can work it out!
PC 3.0G 1G ram 100Gspare hdd space,Nero6(oem) 2xdvd burners Powerdvd(oem). Win Med player11.

1 Rip the DVD with DVD Decrypter.
Set 'Mode' to 'File'

@ecc83....... attar gave you good advice ...... the only thing I am thinking of is if your DVD from the TV or Camcorder has different formats.... if so you will need to rip to hard drive and then convert to DVD compliant files! for that I recommend ConvertXtoDVD found here:

then use Nero and I also recommend you make sure you have the best Nero 6 available......6.6.0.18 is the most stablest version of Nero 6 and I would update it to that version. Here's how:

Before udating to 6.6.0.18 I would save the serial #, uninstall Nero, then use the cleaning tools : http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/eng/Clean_Tools.html
then do a registry clean up(free registry cleaner, CClean: http://www.ccleaner.com/download/downloadpage.aspx?1) and defrag...... then reboot!

install package one:

then install package two:
http://www.nero.com/nero6/eng/Patch_for_NVE3.html
reboot and you're good to go!

also I would use better media. Stick with the MIJ rule (Made In Japan). Look for the MIJ on the label of the box of spindle (Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell, and some Fuji)... the only exception to this rule is Verbatim, which is top notch media but made in Taiwan/Singapore and the only non MIJs I will use.
