Installing flip top on slim PS2

Okay so, I just got my flip top in the mail today, and after removing all 6 screws on the bottom of my slim PS2, I turned it over to remove the top half. ...only to discover that the right half [when looking at it from the front side] will not come off. the left side comes up no problem at all, but the right half will not come off, and I'm afraid that I may break something if I push any harder than I am to force it off.

Has anyone else had this issue? Does it matter that my slim is the 70012 model? [The website claims that this is a workable model though.]

Do I just need to force it or.. what? I'd hate to have wasted the money getting this only to find out that my PS2 is too finicky for the darn thing.
