Which Sony's are best?
Hands down, Made in Japan! Good Luck finding some! You might try obscure stores like K-Mart, Sears, Walgreens, even maybe Wal-Mart. You might find some in the DVD-R Flavor, but the DVD+R 8x MIJs that ARE Made by Taiyo Yuden are all but gone.
However, the 16x made in taiwan are pretty decent media! At least in the DVD+R 16x flavor.
Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

Yea MIJ, but you probably won't find MIJ at any of those stores. I think Sears is a good bet but I don't know. Someone will come along and let you know. The MIT aren't all that bad though either.

I don't know why you want shop hunt to find the Sony MIJs in stores..... just go online and by the real stuff...... buy Taiyo Yuden and don't fret about not having the best! Taiyo Yuden is the best media you can get ..... just my 2 cents. Secondly I would just by Verbatim in stores if I really needed to have a blank DVD to burn ..... that's after my stockpile of Taiyo Yudens are gone!

IHoe-I agree with you in principle ! but I think many people look for the Sony/taiyo yudens or the nearly impossible to find Fuji/Taiyo yudens is that buying Branded media Oem'ed By Taiyo yuden it is often less expensive to go that route to get DVD+R media which is the same price as the DVD-R which is not the case with media bought online from Supermediastore ,Meritline or Rima The DVD+R taiyo yuedens, & other brands the DVD+R is always higher priced! Or maybe it's just the thrill of the hunt? Cia0!!!

I would rather have my disks for more than just a couple of years.... Sooooo I only buy TYs or Verbs. Sales can be had if you look or wait long enough online.

A Staples just opened up near me. I also need ink. Looks like I now have two reasons to go.
Anyway, I'm reluctant to get those Sonys. The last time I had Sonys, one of my DVD players really hated them. I think I'll just get a 50 pack since I literally have no more DVDs. Thank god for my additional hard drive!
What do the 16x MIT (since no one can find MIJs) +R code out as? I only use +R since I can book type it to Rom.

1st Class Media!

I haven't had a single Coaster. Burned several hundred. Playback quality is excellent too.
That is different from the last batch that I had from SONY MIT. I forget what they were, but they weren't good--at least, not on one of my DVD players. I think I will get on spindle (mostly because i have zero discs left).
Thanks.

that media guide is just that...... a guide...... not all media on the list is accurately listed! Use that list as an indication of what's good and what's not good. TDK might not be first class media in my book but it's more compatible with many DVD burners and that makes it higher on the list than other manufacturers. Whether it's first class or not is debatable! Many entries on DigitalFAQ's list can be debated..... just use it for what's good and what's not is fine!

The GQ brand from Fry's Electronics is actually made by Sony. I have used this brand for many years and never had any problems with their blank cd and dvd media. I have had problems with TDK and Verbatim so I stick with the GQ's (Sony). They give excellent audio and video quality and can be purchased in store for $20.00 for a 100 pack spindle.

I, too, realize that the GQ brand has Sony's Media ID (Sony D21,...). But, do they have the same quality ? Which would you trust more ? GQ or Sony considering they have the same Media ID of Sony ?!
