read the readme file!

execute the batch file that is right for you region of wii.
that will create a disk image.
open that image with Nero or whatever burned and burn it on DVD.

yeah... execute the right one of those three...

PAL for european Wii
NTSC for US Wii
JAP for Japanese Wii

forget about the directory you don't need to do anything about it... it is used by the batch files to create the image.

The Image will have .iso extension I think.

Ok so Ive been following this thread for a while now, and I finally was able to get my hands on a Wii (board version 2, purchased today) and I bought a WiiKey from FoundMy.com last week. Couple of things that I have done:

First Attempt: Quick Solder
Failed - for a few reasons, i was following instructions for a version 1 board, and the quick solder is a poor decision anyways
Result - I was able to play Originals, but not backups or the setup disk(V1.2 USA)

Second Attempt: Remove the chip and solder, take back to store and use my money to get a version 1 board
Failed - In my attempt to remove the solder, i burned off the pads for one of the connections
Result - Wii cannot read ANY disks (originals, backups, or setup)

Third Attept: Wire Solder
Failed - I burned off the pads for one of the solder points so now i am having trouble connecting to the legs of the onboard chip.
Result - Still able to play originals, but not backups or the setup disk(V1.2 USA)

My hardware:
Wii - Version 2 (purchased mon, june 25 2007)
Chip - WiiKey (purchased from FoundMy.com June 18, 2007)
DVD Burner - Pioneer 110D (DVD+/- R/RW DL)
Media - 1x Taiyo Yudan DVD-R(setup disk V1.2)
2x TDK DVD-R (Fan4-ROSS, Roms disk)
1x Imitation RVR-RW (Fan4-ROSS)
1x Imitation RVR+RW (setup disk V1.2)
Burn Speed - +/-RWs burned at 8x
-Rs burned at 2x/2x/4x (respectively)
Burn Software - Nero Express

I am hoping that with all of the info given i may receive some good feedback as to what media I should use or other methods that may help me to get my WiiKey working

Thanks

I'll see if i can get some verbatim media.

in the meanwhile, does anyone know what happens to the wii's functionality if you bridge some connections on the legs of the chip on the mainboard (the legs that you would solder to if the pads were burned off)?

Current setup looks like this: Wire Solder method but a bit slopy(i have never soldered a circuit board with wires this small before, so some of the legs are bridged.

you would think that there would be some serious issues with the playback of ANY disk, but i can still play originals

if you can still play originals you are probably just lucky. but you are not going to get the wiikey to work like that

I actually think that i am at a point where i have ruined the legs of the chip.....so ill do what i can and if nothing else then ill get it back to original functionality and return it to the store..unmodified and get a new one and not mess up with that one, now that i know what to do and what not to do.

Alright well in attempting to remove solder from the legs of the chip, i melted part of the board. Also i was completely unsuccessful with that goal.

As for the Mod-chip, i have removed it and the system currently retains its original functionality. i will be seeking professional help soon.

Experiment Results: FAILED COMPLETELY.

if you are not good with a soldering iron let someone else do it!
this is hard soldering!!! the wires have the thickness of hair and the solder points are VERY small... You need a very thin tip 0.5mm or less for the soldering iron.

if you are soldering on the legs of the chip you need a thinner tip as 0.5mm touches 2 legs and you are bound to bridge them.

Heed the warnings about soldering, if you are not VERY good with a soldering iron then DO NOT attempt this, like Istorm said, the points are very small and easy to screw up, also it is a much better idea to use the WIRE method instead of the quick solder method, its easier to work with and remove if necessary.

the warning was there... I hate to say but I told you so.

It is probably fixable don't worry. Just try your wii out without the chip and see if it can still play originals. If that is the case take it to someone that can solder the chip on the legs of the chip directly.

Even I am not confident in doing that and I have lots of soldering experience. Hard work!
