Hi Guys, with the new FW coming i'm wondering how you guys are flashing your drives. i have heard the orginal/old way of use a floppy is dangerous- if floppy fails in middle, your drive is bricked.
so how are ppl flashing ms28 these days. USB boot? the other way? NTFSDOS or whatever...?
thanks

Floppy. I'll either use a brand new floppy or at least try a few writes to a non new one just make sure it's good. Floppies are notorious for going bad in little time. I never could get USB to work for me, despite my Bios letting me boot from USB.

I am paranoid about floppies but my computer won't boot from usb, so I made a boot floppy, and the flash on the USB, boot from floppy, switch to usb drive and go from there.

I use Xtreme boot maker
And a USB drive worked for me everytime,
It hex edits the MTKFLASH so it should get recognized in every type of sata card
I tried to use a floppy first time but its much slower, and during the SAMREAD functionf or samsung drive it says somehting like PLEASE REBOOT PC NOW and cos with the floppy it stayed at that bit for a long time i did, and turns out your not actually meant to, i thought id bricked my drive!
Always USB its the way to go

Is this your site or what... because you sure pimp it alot. He wasn't asking for instructions, he was asking about what's most recommended now. Floppies, USB, etc, etc.
Besides, your site doesn't have the latest info. You can get the newest guide here: http://www.360mods.net/tutorial/Textbook.pdf
I use a USB and mtk flash. I have a pc set up just for flashing and feel safer manually editing the firmware myself. But I have my bios set to boot from the hard drive and when flashing samsungs I have the pc hdd disconnected and the USB flash drive plugged into the front USB port. It won't get picked up if it's plugged into the back ports for some reason.

it's not my site.. but i'm grateful to this site it's really good and it let me learn about anything in a short period. contains every bit of info you need
that guide by textbook isn't that up-to-date trust me...
it is the base of the tutorial on 360hax but 360hax seems to have much more information about anything, plus its updated each week

No, 360s don't need to be opened, despite what every tutorial leads you to believe. Don't bother searching.

But he does make a valid point. Countless threads on here repeating the same stuff. Then again, name one forum that has all the answers stickied and the forum consisted of people making friends... lol
I always seem to end up arguing with myself on here. But I also fall to the "Damn, won't you just SEARCH" rage.

I wrote an extensive FAQ for the PS2 and people would still ask the same questions over and over again, even in the FAQ thread where the question was laid out. It's inevitable, but hey, at least we aren't seeing people asking if they need an Xbox360 to play backups.... well, not very often at least.
