Yeah you have to buy it. Its a game. Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories (GTA LCS) You need the unpatched version

unpatched means it has the 2.00 update on it. but, u cant go into a store and say "unpatched gtalcs please" because they will know u r doing something illegal.

I did ask a few gamestop stores around me. They don't have unpatched version. Why does every person need to buy instead of downloading? Why is not available online to be downloaded? Is anywhere online available? By the way, is version 3.03 good for many homebrew games? Do I have to downgrade 3.03 to 1.50? Thanks!

there is no type of an unpatched gta:lcs you can download - you will personally have to go and purchase it. (your best shot is ebay or craigslist)
if u hav a v 3.03 firmware, you should downgrade to 1.50 with your newly purchased an unpatched gta:lcs. from here you can do 2 things: leave it at 1.5, in order to run homebrew applications (pspradio, remote control, etc..), and play backed up games (iso's & cso's) off your memory stick using devhook or fastloader (softwares which allow you to load up iso's). if you just want to play backed up games (iso's and cso's), and are not interested in homebrew applications, and dont want to go through all the trouble of installing these loaders, simply upgrade to a custom firmware of dark_alex (the latest is 3.40 oe-a), and you can play iso's and cso's off your memory stick, without installing any programs.

Actually, I just want to use this PSP to play free games instead of paying every time. Can I just use 3.03? Or, should I follow your instruction to upgrade to firmware of dark_alex? Where can I find the instruction to upgrade to dark_alex? Where can I find the necessary file to do this? Thanks!

no, you cannot use 3.03. you must downgrade to 1.50 with an unpatched GTA:LCS, and then upgrade to one of dark_alex's custom firmwares. once you have downgraded to 1.50, the intructions to upgrade to a custom firmware are here:

as someone already mentioned, dont go into a local store asking "can i please have an UNPATCHED version of GTA:LCS??"....they probably wont even know what that means, and if they do, they'll know ur doing something illegal. chances are you will not get one because rockstar (the company that makes the gta series) released a wack of new lcs's which now have it patched. i.e. no update v2.0. so as i said b4, ur best shot is ebay or even craigslist.

I bought one from gamestop, and its back cover is same as someone descriped: the upper left picture is one buy riding bike with airplane in the back. But, it is original. I have not open it yet. It doesn't have 18 logos, but it has ULUS10041GH, no UPDL in the cover. I am not sure if this is unpatched or patched! Who can tell me how to identify? Are all pictures in the cover enough to identify or I have to open, then, I can identify? Thanks

Sorry i dont remember. =[ All i know is it has the unpatched cover and the 2.00 update. Also if its unpatched it should have a gun on the UMD. If not it wil have just the logo. But you'd have to open to see that. Sorry.

I did not open it. Instead, I went to Gamestop, and there was a exact same one. The staff did not allow me to try it with my PSP, but he gave it to me to check. I saw the UMD is brown with Gun, UPDL is xxxxx5x, for sure it is not x04850x. So, I don't want to open it anymore. In addition, I was told by the staff in the store, another Game named "Lumines" is good for downgrader, too. Who knows this "Lumines"? They told me there is no version issue for "Lumines". But, I found there is "Lumines" and "Lumines II". Which one is the right one? Please advise me! By the way, I am not good to read your abbrevations, please try to spell it more. Thanks

Lumines is not for downgradin from 3.03 to 1.50, right? It is for downgrading from 3.5 to 1.50? Right? Thanks
