Sorry if this has been said before but I have been searching and I can't find much info since I'm new to this. I came accross this article that said that you can copy and burn your ps2 games and back them up and then boot them using modchip, swap magic or memory card exploit.
I read it, and i'm a little confused and have few questions:
1: so its possible to use an old ps1 original game to boot and to set up all that memory card exploit? or do you have to use something like swap magic as well along with the ps1 game?
2: does that mean that once you have that memory card exploit set up you can use backed up copy games without swap magic or anything else?
3:and if so..i have a slim version of ps2 which is v12 for which i read that memory card exploit doenst work anymore, but i still have my old big ps2 and could you just set all that up on the memory card on the older ps2 and then use the memory card on the slim ps2 and would that work?
thank you all for reading and helping out...sorry its a bit confusing, i tried doing my best to explain.
p.s. bottom line is that i want to back up few of my favorite games ( Winning Eleven 9, NCAA 05) and play them and don't want to and have no money to spend on a modchip, gameshark, or swap magic...
1. Well the in order to get the exploit onto the memory card (in slot 1) you are going to need at least 2MB free on your memorycard and some way of booting up the burnt disc (swapmagic or modchip). After you have the exploit on the memory card you no longer need swapmagic/modchip.
2.Yes, besides the ps1 trigger disc.
3.No. Exploit doesn't work for versions 12 and up.
You need some way of booting up burnt discs. Which is what the exploit will allow you to do.
In order to get the exploit onto the memory card you will need to use swapmagic or modchip at least once.
1. Just to clarify. It IS possible to put the exploit on the memory card without using swapmagic or a modchip, but your still gonna need gameshark or Action Replay. They only cost like 20$.
Since you can't use the exploit, you are much better off buying swap magic, or sending your PS2 to TeamModders.com so they would install an inferior chip for you.
