The new version of firmware for HITACHI's was released (XBINS)...
Was reading the text file and it says support for ALL versions
of HITACHI's...
I am a little confused... I have a v78 and had to use Maximus Toolbox to flash up to this point... Could someone confirm if the new firmware can be used on a v78 or if the new version for the v78 is still to come?
Any help would be appreciated... Thanks JLF24

in the beginning it showed me three times a E64 error, but now it seems ok.
could you report back if you have E64 errors as well. My flash went excellent, no problems.. and my 360 plays games in between this E64 errors.

It doesn't FULLY support 79's yet. It'll patch them, but it won't read/write to the drive yet. Also, reading through other forums, it seems people who are using an sata to usb are having problems.

There is a second Hitachi firmware available now. It's C4EVA_XTRM-HITACHI_v2_4_Stealth .
I'd be willing to bet there's going to be more updates to the new Hitachi firmwares within the next few days/week. For those of you who can stand to wait, you might just want to do that to avoid having to reflash every couple of days.

OPA just updated the new Hitachi firmware (released yesterday) from 3.1 to 3.1b... just like I said might happen in my previous post. And I'm sure more updates are still coming.

How do you guys restore to original firmware.i've got 46dh hitachi.
Should i put the drive on mode b and then run the restore.bat?
Do i need to write any commands in DOS?

restore.bat to get back to original then flash24s.bat to flash if using C4E's firmware. Same firmware in FW toolbox 3.1 as C4E, just a different method.

Right here

I was wrong earlier, the firmware's are different. Both add disc-jitter checking, but C4E's firmware maintains the stealth fw and F900 core. You can use C4E's firmware for all drives except the 0078/0079. You can use FW Toolbox for all hitachi drives but the firmware built in is for the 0078/0079 drives.

I "think" it's the exact same OPA package just with C4E's new anti disc-jitter.
But flash the exact same way as OPA packages.

Restoring v78 to Original Firmware
- Put your Hitachi drive in ModeB with SLAX
- Make sure you attach the Drive to the PC with a Native Sata port because some PCI Sata cards are not supported or even some USB-SATA adapters are not working well at this moment. Does not harm to try thou
- Make sure your drive is visible and has a letter asigned on Windows
- Insert a DVD Movie or an XBOX/XBOX 360 game on the Hitachi DVD drive, it does not matter which, originals work better.
- Launch Fw Toolbox and open the original file for the drive, this is important because of the variations of the 78+ firmwares.
- MAKE SURE THE DETAILS SHOWS AN FULLY ORIGINAL FILE, if labels as "Spoofed" or "XTREME" appear on the details then IS NOT AN ORIGINAL FILE (Firmware).
- Go to "Tools->Direct Drive Flash->Differential Flash RESTORE"
- Make sure the Hitachi drive u want to flash is selected, now press the button "Read Drive and Detect Differences", after a few seconds the sectors list below the button should be populated.
- Important If you are ASKED about if you want to keep the drives already on the drive CHOOSE YES.
- Press the "Start Flashing" button and after a few seconds the thing is done your drive is now restored.
I burn all my games at 4X w/ no problems... never tried anything faster... Stick w/ 2.4X or 4X or you might get a Coaster!
