Component cable for the PS2?!?!?

I wanted to get a component cable for the ps2, but i dont know what it does. Does anyone kno how the original av cable (red white and blue) is different from the component cable. And whould it make a difference to use it on a sdtv??

If you have a TV that supports Component-in then you should definately go for it. It will give you the best possible picture your PS2 can give(much better that AV-cable that come in bundled).
Images will be sharper and colours will be less washed out
beeter contrast crisp images higher detail
(all is there in PS2 manual)

I was told by EB Games in Brisbane Aus that they do not make component cables for PS2 ?

Seriously one is official sony and one is a monster cable brand.
Beware the monster does not have audio cables so you also have to use the fiber optic audio with it.
The sony cable has R/L leads for the audio also.

Yes I Googled it & it seems the new PS3 cables even fit is this correct ?
E-Bay seems to have PS2/PS3 cables & reasonably priced too

Sony makes component cable, as well as Monster, and Psyclone (which is what i bought). And then there are a bunch of cheap crappy cables like you can buy on Ebay. If you want an improvement then spend the extra money and buy one of the three name brands listed. If you have a TV that supports component cables then you should see an improvement in picture quality for sure. It will not be huge but should be enough to make the cables worth getting.
