Cant Get Via So Which Pci Sata Controller For Hitachi 78?

After repair M$ changed my drive to a Hitachi 78. I need to buy a new pci controller.
Which chipset will work?

Ive been reading my way around the forum, and it seems like the hitachi 78 is supposed to work with VIA6421 chipset. BUT, I live in Norway, so Im having trouble finding anyone who sells controllers with VIA VT6421 chipset. I do have accsess to controllers with SIL3512 though. Will this work?

Please help me fast

No, you can't flash a 0078 with a SIL chipset. You can use others but it's reccommended to use the VIA 6421a. You can get it on ebay for pretty cheap.

Look at the pic of the chip. Clearly states VIA VT6421a

It has for me. But I'd rather use my SIL3112 for any hitachi other than the 0078.

is what more reliable? the SIL? the VIA 6421 can flash ANY 360 including 78k so i think you should just go for that. i know i am!

SIL chipsets are known to make partial dumps when dumping a drive with FW TB 3.1B.. this is even known with the authors of FW Toolbox

best is VIA 6421
