I just bought a dvd burner nec 1300a. my computer see the burner and is able to read a cd , but when i'm trying to burn one i always get error message like illigal medium or no disk at once etc.... what should i do?? a try different things , like re-install nero or even try with NTI and nothings work.<

Hi, i bought one of these burners a while back and also got hold of some baragin dvd-r and some +r, when i tried to burn to them i also got the invalid medium error. I tried it with 3 or 4 types of media and only red datawrites would work, until i flashed the firmware. Now all is well, my 4x media of all kinds is burning fine at full speed. not one coaster yet! (touches all the wood around him).
Firmware you need is 1.6 i believe.

Thanks a lot for the tips. i upgrade my firmware but i still have problem , now it says that i have some calibration error , but it might be my cd's that i use .. Princo dvd's (i heard they aren't good at all , that's why they are so cheap! so i'll try with better dvd and keep you inform guys .. thanks again

Search using message search function on calibration errors cuz i answered loads on that.

Thanks for the help , i'm proud to say that i just burn my first ps2 dvd copy .. yeahhh I tried with Nero and it didn't work at all.. then i tried with NTI version 6 and everything works fine.

I upgrade my firmware with herrie's version and now i'm able to burn princo cd's. With the official nec website version i wasn't able to burn at all.. thanks to herrie too

Hi, I'm also having problems getting the damn thing to work. I installed it into my macintosh G3 at work. Does anyone know if i need to use it on a mac?
