I've burnt a few DVD's with my Pioneer DVD burner and now something funny has happened.

Both my DVD rom and DVD burner will not read DVD's. Even blank DVD's are comming up full. I have uninstalled them, reinstalled checked hardware, updated drivers, updated windows files and got a new DVD player on my system. Still nothing.

It says on a blank disk Free space: 0 bytes
I know the disk is blank because I just bight it.

In my computer the drives are reading as DVD and DVD-R

HELP me please

Thanx

What happens when you insert a DVD Movie disc into your writer? Can you play it?

Both WinDVD and PowerDVD wont play the DVD's anymore.
The DVD Writer is a Pioneer DVR-106Dis only a month old.
It worked a few days ago, but not anymore :(

Would refomatting my HD's maybe fix the prob or should I take the writer back to where I bought it?

Thanx :)

hi

if 2 separate drives started playing up at the same time? then this says its not the drives! so what else could it be? ummm?

you say you un installed the drives in DEVICE MANAGER? did you reboot after? did your system relod them in? also what operating system you on? XP?

are the new discs you just bought and the old ones that worked 2 different makes? could be the discs!!??!!

Thx....

EDIT: dont quote me but i think there is a v1.06 and v1.07 firmware now?! BUT! i would not upgrade just yet as i have this drive on v1.05 and all works fine!

Aslo you say it wont play a real DVD movie? if not then there may be more to it than media issues!

Have you touched the region coding of the drives?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Nothing has been touched since I last burnt a DVD. All settings are the same.

I'm running windows XP. Ive installed everything again and still to no avail. It's really pissing me off if you know what I mean
:(

I bought RiData DVD's and there all showing full I have 50 of them, so hubby bought a Shintaro and thats showing full too. I always burn using 1 of those above mentioned DVD's and have never had a problem with them.

Its just weird that both Drives stuff up.

Hubbys been downloading stuff so I thought maybe if I format and get rid of everything and start from scratch I may somehow fix the problem

hi

what software you using? and try installing the ASPI layer again! xp doesnt come with one! nero and powerdvdxp uses its own! but get one from adaptec i use v4.71.2 ithink? you click install.bat after unzipping and then aspiinstall.exe!

aspi layers run the drives!! it just seems odd 2 drives have gone at the same time! so its got to be drivers or aspi or software!

try this! were those discs the same as before on good burns?

Thx...

also are the drives on the same eide cable to mother board?

Thax...

EDIT:

just a thoguht? are you using game coping software?

Nothing here to see, move along folks.

Well I updated the ASPI and guess what........... *sob* it still isn't working.

Im using either DVD Decrypter or Smart ripper to rip the DVD's and DVD2One to compress then Nero 6 to burn. Ive had nothing but sucess untill now.

I have no idea about the leads, my hubby built my pc. I know we've just bought a lead so I can have my DVD writer, DVD Rom and CD writer all installed. But it's not in yet.

My pc is a 2600+ AMD with 500megs RAM it reads as a 2.9 as it is clocked with Easytune4.
Its not what you'd call a slow peice of crap lol

Im going insane :(
