If my crackdown game got cracked and is now unreadable, but luckily i made a backup of it before it broke. Could i still play the Halo 3 beta with my backup?

you should be able to, yes. But i would really watch yourself. There is no telling what MS is going to do about people playing back ups online when Halo 3 hits. That is the time when most people speculate that MS will start banning people. Nothing confirmed on that but it would be a great time for them to catch a huge amount of people on just one server. The risk is your to take.
