ok so i am getting a mod chip put in my 360 how do i get the games on my computer to mod them and then back on.. I am getting a mod chip on my xbox so i do not need xsata.

wow u seem lost.
after your 360 is modded you will have to burn your backups on dual layer dvd's! you can't save it on the harddrive if that is what you might be asking. please be more clear.
this is the xbox 360 right?

k in any case:
to backup your games to pc google: xbox 360 hotswap method
to burn look on afterdawn for a tutorial on burning xbox 360 games.
and then you just put it in ur modded xbox 360 and you can play them.

on the backups thread, they have used the pioneer internal dvd-writer, but I have a laptop

so can you but that at like staples. Ok so here is what i think i need to do for modding tell me if it is wrong. So what i need to do it get the game on my computer by burning on there somehow then mod the game and burn the modded game on to a disc then but it in my 360 and play. But can i still play on live cause i want to play halo

the best way to backup the games is with a kreon flashed drive in your pc. just search ebay for a kreon drive and you wil find them for around 40 or 50 bucks. then you need a dual layer burner in your pc so you can burn the backup, if you have a dual burner already it will probl work. you will need some programs 1 called xbox backup creator and imgburn or clone cd.
you also need to read textbooks guid to help you out.
now all you need to do is look for this stuff.

if its a samsung ms28 you are recommended a via6421 sata card. because others tend not to work.

its already explained in these fourms, just look for the answers.
its hard to explain to you when you know nothing, do a little reading and get some understanding of what is going on.
start with textbooks giude, it explains it all.
then when your head is only half way up your *ss ask a few questions, you will know what we are talking about, when and if there answered!!!!

since i am going to get my xbox flashed what should i do to mod the games do i still need the dvd burner and all that crap if i have a sata cord that connects to my hardrive. And if i could, could i mod old maps on halo and play on live

we have told you the answer,if you dont want to take yor xbox apart all the time you will need a kreon drive installed in your pc.
