I am trying to get live and I really am short on money right now. I am pretty sure that I need a new router because my Netgear will not let the IMCP packet through, I figured to get a Dlink to get that problem fixed, they always seem to work for Xbox.

The other problem I have is that I can't hard wire a connection due to the area of the internet coming in and the location of the 360. Can I use my laptop and do internet connection sharing with a crossover cable to keep from buying a wireless adapater? I had a wireless adapter at one point and it worked but I believe it was the router giving problems.

you may be able to route it through your laptop, but the more you put between your 360 and your connection (laptop, to router, to PC) the worse your signal will be.

I personally have a wireless set up using all Linksys products and it works great. But it would cost about $140 for both the router and adapter.
