but i dont really care cause i was carless and did everything u can to get banned i.e play releases before release date, flash twice..but i didnt play crackdown or Halo 3 beta

http://www.360drives.com is what I used to try to make sure I got a new Sammy. In fact I was even shooting for a MS25 over MS28 and was still successful. Sort the list by lot number and then compare against the lot number you see on the box. It' not totally accurate, but it's still pretty good.
and ha9981,
no you still need to make the games stealth when using stealth Sammy firmware.

guys so on the 360 does it say lot number? or do i just look for a 4 digit number and i know from there its the lot number

It says the lot number on the label on the left side of the box in the store. You'll seem some bar codes on it and other info on you can compare to the list.

ok i dont wanna read thru the 26 pages so i'll just ask, whats the deal on the ms28s mine still works fine on xbl, but all the other drives i have are ban, ive been playing backups and Halo 3 like crazy and still and up and running on xbl, i thought at first i might just be lucky but now it seems like i might not get banned at all...

Aww you don't want to read 26 pages? You wussy! Seriously, I probably wouldn't want to read through all that if I wasn't such a nerd about this kind of stuff.
Basically it's believed, Samsung drives MS25 and MS28 running stealth firmware and playing only stealth backups can slip through the scans and are truly stealth. Hitachis can't be stealth right now regardless of firmware. Also playing backups before their release date is a big no no for anyone and can result in bans as well regardless of drive or firmware. Other factor may come in to play like flashing before Live, flashing multiple time and using the unbanned 360 as the power source during flashing.

Actually i did read through the 26 pages, there just are so many different opinions its hard to tell who is right. I'm going to try flashing my drive, i just need to get a cheap dl burner to burn the games and s.ee if i get banned

I've always been one for experiments and I like to try to figure what's going on with stuff. I saw the trend going on with Samsung users not being banned. I wanted to flash another Samsung following the guidelines that seemed to make sense for stay unbanned. I could afford a couple of 360 it's not a big deal. If I do get banned I'll give ixtreme a shot whenever it comes out. However, that'll be my last go at flashing if that fails. It'll be just one 360 for Live and one for backups after that.

memnock i can afford a elite but do u see any reason for buying 1 because it allows u to play 1080p but there are no games in 1080p and the HD DVD add on allows up to 720p no 1080p so what u think

My TV doesn't do 1080p so I really don't even care about the Elite now, except for the fact I think the black looks cool. If you have a big screen 1080p TV, the 1080p is at least supported to look better for movies at least and you can upscale DVDs with it. I'd assume full game support would be coming down the road. It's a personal choice, but the Elite doesn't make sense for me right now.

I have a ms28 with Xtream 5.3a, i stealth patched all my games and I still got banned. Im not really worried about it because I knew the risk when I flashed my f/w. It was fun while it lasted and to all with a ms28 i wouldn't get to cocky about going on xbl with a hacked f/w due to the fact that I got banned and alot of friends got banned as well.

yeah, ive done it before. so did ps2menace. idc about live, i just want to help the community find out what the deal is. MS could be waiting to unleash more bans right around the time the new firmware comes out just to see how man complain about being banned unfairly.
