Is there a way to look on the box of an elite and tell if it is mod able or not?

I believe the elites run off BenQ drives and can't be modded so no worries

Elite is modable , same as the 360, and benq drives have been cracked, just do it the way you would with the 360 , a guy on youtube did it, no fake,

the guy in that vid on youtube is modding a hitachi drive not a benq drive

in fact the vids title is "Xbox 360 Elite Hitachi 78 Firmware Flash"

as far as i know the benq is still unmodable for now.

some elites ship with the hitachi drive. but if your going to be going on xbox live, dont mod it. Now is a very bad time to mod an xbox 360 as thousands of people have found out.

you havent seen or heard anything about the bans? thousands of people have been banned from xbox live for having modded consoles.

Actually there has been some updates. Team Xecuter has developed a mod chip which will get the drive into modeb. Once in modeb, the drive can then be flashed. They are still working on programming it, though.

The mod chip will ONLY get the drive into modeb. It's not like the other chips which will enable the use of backups.

This is what you are looking for... there is a LOT# on the Box.

Lot 709 and 710 are v78 Hitachi's on the ELITE systems...

stay away from LOT 711 and 712... Here is a link to help you

Im missing something here. Whats the point in flashing it if you can not enable the use of back ups?

You miss read it... the modchip will not enable backups to play. It will enable the drive to be flashed. Then you flash the drive so you can play backups.
