Yeah, you need a real game in your UMD drive to play your "Back up" games :)

This is the solution i found using another forum...
Solution 1:
Disable "No UMD" in the recovery menu and have a UMD game in the drive.
Solution 2: Its still in the zip/rar file and not extracted yet, Use WinRAR!
Solution 3: Recovery Mode > Advanced > Advanced Configuration > enable the "Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO" option.
I wanna try solution 3, but i can't get into recovery mode... i hold R while rebooting, i only get a blank screen... Do I need a UMD as well, to go into recovery?
Sorry, I noe i'm a real noob

No it tells your Psp to ignore the UMD, but im afraid you will have to have a UMD in the drive regardless.
People say to use GTA LCS but I have monster hunter in my psp and that seems to work fine.

MAKE SURE its a proper shut down, not just a quick flick to close it. SHut it down, give it like 10secs or so, hold the R button and then slide it on, if it doesn't bring u to the recovery screen, then I dunno.

Again, only OE firmwares have recovery menu.
#1: 2.81 -> 3.03 -> 3.11 DoH (no more :D)
#2: 1.00 -> 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c
#3: Ceramic white 1.5 -> 3.03oe-c -> 3.40oe
Whatever happens, happens...

hey guys, just needing some help on an issue with my 3.40 OE-A. ive got GTA-LCS UMD but it doesnt seem to work? i get the cannot start game error. I've tried re-downgrading, and upgrading back to 3.40OE-A but it still didnt work. Just before, i put the demo disc in, and that worked. the GTA UMD is brand new, only 3 days old. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure your NO-UMD is disabled. Is there any visible defect on the umd?

hey, yeah i tried all of that. no the umd is sweet as. BTW i got pissed with it all , downgraded to 1.5 again. i upgraded to 2.60 off my GTA LCS UMD (which worked for the update, and now works itself in 2.60). So i guess that question is solved, but another arises! can i use the 2.71 ta-082(my original firmware from new) downgrader? I've downloaded the 2.50/2.60 downgrader, but it warns me not to use if i have the ta-082mobo. So i just wonder if i use the original downgrader to get back to 1.5.
Cheers for help guys!

Yes, the "No-UMD" Feature will stop some games from functioning... It's a pain in the ass but you can't do anything about it. ^.^
Otherwise, try the game in someone else's PSP, or return the game.

Dude, you upgraded? Well, it's no biggie I guess. So it seems to be the firmware problem, another OE upgrade should solve it. Anyway, you CANNOT use 2.6 downgrade ta82. There is a 2.71 downgrader from ta-082, but make sure you get the right one. Now, I've never tried it personally, so I don't know from experience, but some people here say it's a pain in the butt to downgrade from 2.71. So a logical alternative would be 3.03 downgrader, since you have Liberty story (assume unpatched). I've seen my friend do it, and it's very easy.
Edit: Nevermind 3.03 downgrade. I just read you have 2.6 updater on your gta, so it's pathced. I would just downgrade from 2.71 or 2.8.
