I've been reburning all my burnt games to Verbatim media because supposedly it is the superior media.

However, I have been having problems with certain games (specifically Tekken 5 and Guitar Hero II and possibly more I haven't stumbled on yet). This IS the high-quality stuff, right? I'm burning this stuff at 4x in DVD Decrypter (though for some reason the drive sneaks up to 6x during the burning process; shouldn't make much difference).

I'm getting loading stutters and long load times with the two previously mentioned games and both of them had fairly high return rates when I was still using TDK (GH2 was flawless and T5 had an occasional hiccup).

Ok, don't let them tell you that there are special brands that will work better. I mean, within reason there are, but you know.

Go with Sony DVD-R's. I have been using them for 2 years, with swap magic, on a slim ps2, and 2 years before that on a fat ps2. No problems, and have never had a bad burn (unless it was my own fault of not setting the speed correctly by accident).

Verbatim are good, yes, but highly over hyped. I know I'll get flack for that here but its the truth.

I have also used TDK DVD-Rs before (bought in pack of 5) and they worked fine, no flaws.

You're TDK will do fine. Trust me. For as long as I've been using Sony and TDK, my laser(s) on both my consoles still pick the games up fast even with factory games. My lasers are in tip top shape (granted I clean the once every 2 months with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol).

Once again, verbatim are good, but TDK is fine, and if it works better for you than its probably just a matter of the burner your using, which isn't a bad thing. At least you know which brand works for you.

Use the brand that works for you, as long as it isn't "dollar store" quality.

Guitar Hero II needs to be rebuilt, not sure why you're having problems with tekken though.

I never had to rebuild Guitar Hero on TDK media.
