I have an older model PC that I'm giving to my sister. It's an HP 8755c with ME installed.

I have already added 512 KB of RAM and a 80gb HD to it.

Here's the question: Do I need to upgrade ME to XP or Vista?

She's only using it for CD burning and checking her E-mail and such. Very very basic stuff!

Will Real Player, Nero, Windows Media Player all work with ME or should I upgrade the OS to keep up?

Of course, 512mb is what I meant. Anyway are you saying :
I can upgrade to XP if I want.
I should upgrade to XP to make it better.
Or I must upgrade to XP for it work?

Can I stay with ME and if not where should I buy XP at and do you know where a good guide is at for upgrading your OS to XP

why even upgrade to XP? Win98/98SE works just as well, hella lot better than ME ever will and for the uses you've exlained, its more than enuff. But as said, Win98/98SE/ME are no longer supported so that might be an inconvience.

What do you mean? You say Win98/98SE works just as well and much better than ME and so on.

Here's the problem : I don't have Win98 I have ME

So what should I do with this ME issue? Should I find a cheap Win98 or Win2k cd to uprade to?

Where can I find a cheap OS install disc for my needs?
