I have been using DVD Shrink 3.2 for awhile with much success, Now I cannot burn to the dvd player in my Dell, I attemted to burn a movie that I knew was good to copy, it failed to burn. It copies to the hard drive, but fails at burning. There is a dialog box that opens and gives a lot of data, but I have no idea on what its context means. I was wondering if when I attempted to rip a Sony DVD if my system was corrupted with there answer to ripping DVD's. Also they did get sued and lost for doing this. Is this the key to my problem?
Please Help. Where do I start. Thanks

While Sony may be a pain in the as* they have yet to come up with a protection that can't be broken.
They got sued (if my memory serves me right :) ) for a rootkit they put on cd's - they should know better but shows how much they really care about the consumer.
Ok that rant over now to your problem :)

I don't think it has anything to do with Sony - more a drive and/or media problem.
So did you save the log - you can post it.
If not it sounds like you have Nero installed - that's one program Shrink uses to burn.
Post the last log from Nero. You can find them here:
Nero 6 - program files>ahead>nero>nerohistory
Nero 7 - program files>nero>nero 7>core>nerohistory.

Nero saves the last 10 burn logs - just need the last 1.
Be sure to edit out the serial # - they begin w/ 1A, 1C or 5C.

Did you recently start using a new spindle of discs or perhaps a new brand of DVD's. Could be as simple as a firmware update for your burner to recognize the new media.

If you don't have a Nero log to post give us the model number of your burner and the current firmware being used.

The top of the log is missing, but here is what I see from what is given:

Quote:
Last address to be written: 2285994 (507:59.69, 4464MB)
Change your target output size to 4400MB.

Quote:
Recorder: PHILIPS DVD+-RW DVD8801, Media type: DVD+R
This should contain another line that lists your media and media code...typically this means that your DVD's aren't being seen properly and a firmware update could cure your woes...

Quote:
Burn process started at 16x (22,160 KB/s)
Without seeing the top of the log my last suggestion is to reduce your burn speed to 8X until you get a good burn.

BTW...what brand discs did you just recently start using? Run one through DVD Identifier and post back the results as well as the model number and current firmware version of your burner if you need help with it.
